Welcome to the web-site of the Church of England parish of Abbots Langley in Hertfordshire, UK. Whatever the reason for your visit, you will be able to find something here of the activities, purpose, and history of the Anglican Church in this parish. We have two churches- St. Lawrence Church in Abbots Langley and the Church of the Ascension in Bedmond, and are part of the Diocese of St. Albans. We are also part of Churches Together in Abbots Langley. There has been a church here for about 1000 years. We try to combine a sense of tradition with witnessing to the dynamic presence of God in his world, and serving the community of which we are a part. The community has a good feel about it. The population is about 14,000: at one end it merges into Watford and at the other into open farmland. Its strong sense of identity is helped by not having major transport routes running through it- except the M25 which, apart from those who live close to it, hardly affects us. Stay and browse and get the feel of the life of our churches, what we do and why we do it. |
